“Be still and know that I am with you.” -Psalm 46:10
My name is Toni Marie Hernandez and I am entering my third year of teaching first grade at Mary Immaculate School. I’ve been working in the educational field since high school, first as the aide in the Reading Lab at an adult school, then as a Special Education Assistant for over 10 years at an elementary school in Northridge. While I absolutely adored working with my students with special needs, I knew I wanted to do more as an educator, and decided to pursue my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. During this time I worked as a substitute teacher at various charter schools; this allowed me to gain experience with children in the teacher role and further fueled my passion for teaching. As an educator, I believe that every child is capable of learning; it’s just a matter of helping each child unlock that knowledge in a way that suits them.
